BENEFITS
The most obvious benefit from massage that people tend to think of is the relief of tension in achey muscles but the benefits run much deeper that this alone. As well as the soothing effects of massage on musculature, the techniques also stimulate many systems within the body and may help to, amongst other things:
Improve circulation / aid digestion / improve skin tone / reduce swelling / speed up digestion / eliminate waste
BENEFITS
There are psychological effects too. As the body relaxes, it may help to:
Reduce stress / quieten the mind / reduce anxiety / increase feelings of positivity
Pregnancy Massage
With pregnancy comes many significant changes to the mothers body. Every pregnancy is individual and the physical and emotional changes demands on the body equally so. Studies have shown that massage performed during pregnancy may help to reduce anxiety, relieve muscle aches and joint pains and improve labour outcomes.
Other possible benefits include:
Improved circulation / Reduced swelling / Better sleep
Pregnancy massage can be enjoyed after the first trimester onwards and is carried out in a side lying position but if you would prefer to only have your back/neck/shoulders massaged, this can also be done in a seated position.
